About a year ago we started a new feature here at Family Tree University. The Family Tree Firsts blog was created to allow us to follow along with a newbie genealogist as she began the process of discovering her family history.
Nancy Shively served as our first-ever Family Tree Firsts blogger. If you’ve been following along, you’ve watched as Nancy reunited her dad with his long-lost family, took her first research trip, and blossomed into a full-fledged family historian. Nancy’s no longer a newbie, and she’s graduated from Family Tree Firsts (her final post is here). You can find her on her own blog, Gathering Stories, where she’s already sharing more of her family’s journey.
Dozens of new genealogists entered our contest to our next blogger, and it was a very tough decision. We’re pleased to announce that Shannon Bennett has joined us as our new Family Tree Firsts blogger. Shannon is a stay-at-home mom from Virginia. She has a degree in biology with an emphasis in genetics, so it’s no surprise that she’s become interested in her own family history.
Shannon is already a student at Family Tree University, where she’s taken several of our new First Steps courses. She’ll continue to study here “on campus” and share what she she learns with us. She’ll also be trying out some of our new offerings, including our brand-new Power Courses.
Watch for Shannon’s first post late next week!
Family Tree Firsts is an ongoing blog series at Family Tree University.
